I want to paint a stainless steel toaster oven a soft pink. But the only high temp engine paint I can find in pink is a hot pink and the appliance paints I can find are only in beige type colors not pastels. Any advice? Keep in mind that I am not a great painter.

Let me preface this by saying this is probably a terrible idea, and if you burn your house down it’s not my fault...
...b ut plastidip is apparently heat resistant to 200º. I’d be curious whether the outside of the oven gets much hotter than that, and whether adding a layer of insulation would throw anything else off.

Buy a SMEG?

It does. Most lower cost toaster ovens skimp on the insulation.

I should have replaced “probably” with “almost certainly”.

I used to warm sauces and melt butter by placing a pan on top of the toaster oven. I would suspect than 350F/200C paint is about the lowest I could recommend. 300/175 maybe.

Maybe a base coat of white oven/grill paint, then a top coat of Rustoleum Dusty Pink?
Either that or get the toaster as hot as it'll go and check the outside temp. If it's under 200 degrees, you can probably get away without using grill paint. Or find a place that'll powder coat it for you?

I really doubt 300/175 would fly. Those things get pretty hot, and seem to have 0 insulation.

Just for a piece of data , I just cooked baked potatoes in my Oster toaster oven for an hour at 350F. The pan that was sitting on top read about 220F according to my instead read IR thermometer.

Hm that’s less than I would have guessed based on my totally non scientific experience of touching it. And occasionally using the top to heat food.

Me too. Still too hot for plastidip though.

A friend once left a disposable lighter on top of my toaster oven. I didn’t notice it until it had melted and sprayed out its contents. Thankfully it didn’t explode.

I always wondered about that brand. Not enough to spend any time researching it, mind you...

I’ve been a Villeneuve fan since the ‘70s and have seen that logo for years but had no idea what it was. I was just trying to find a pic of his helmet, but this image was just too awesome not to share.

TY! I was hoping someone would do that, if they hadn’t already.
